The European retailer will roll out its own IKEAS spice rack in Australia by the end of this year, in a move that could be seen as a sign of the growing popularity of its products in the country.
The first store is due to open at the end the year and is expected to serve the Australian market, with more locations to follow.
IKEA Australia Chief Executive Officer, Chris Cunneen, said the company was committed to bringing a wider range of products to the market.
“IKEAS is a global leader in home decoration, furniture and other home accessories,” Mr Cunney said.
“[But] Australia has the potential to become the global hub of IKEAs spice rack and we have a fantastic opportunity here to develop a local range of ILEA products.”
Mr Cunneren said the IKEAC’s plans for the spice rack were being closely watched by other retailers and would depend on the market response.
He said the retailer would not be releasing any further information at this stage.
Australia’s largest spice rack supplier, Atlantic Spice Company, is expected next year to introduce its own spice rack.
