Aussie ‘spice store’ has been shut down for ‘fraudulent activities’

Posted July 08, 2018 12:07:37 Aussie spice store Spice Store has been closed after a “scam” investigation into its website.

The company, which has locations in Melbourne and Sydney, told News.org.au it received a complaint from a customer on Saturday and it closed its doors in the early hours of Monday.

“The investigation revealed that Spice Store, based in Melbourne, has been using false and misleading information about itself to mislead and defraud consumers,” Spice Store said in a statement.

“We will take swift action to ensure this does not happen again.”

The store said the allegations were serious and it had contacted the Australian Federal Police.

“If you are dissatisfied with any of our products or services we encourage you to return them to us within 15 days,” it said.

Spice Store did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It said the company had contacted Australian authorities.

“Our customers deserve a good quality product and service from us and we have been working hard to comply with the law to protect them,” Spice Shop said.

The site said customers who received incorrect information on the company’s website were entitled to a full refund.

“All refund requests will be processed within 30 days,” the company said.

“Please visit the website of Spice Store to see if we have processed your refund.

If you have not yet received a refund, please contact us at 1300 228 787.”

The company said the Australian Consumer Law would apply to the refund process.

“You are entitled to the full amount of your purchase back as a full and complete refund, with no deductibles,” the website said.

A spokesperson for Spice Shop did not respond to request for comments.

The store had opened in October.
